Up in the morning in the drizzling rain. Pack my chute and aboard the plane. C-130 rolling down the strip. Airborne daddy on a one way trip. Mission top secret destination unknown. I don't know if I'm coming home. Well stand up hook up shuffle to the door. Jump on out and shout MARINE CORPS! And if my main don't open wide. I got another one by my side. and if the chute decides not to work. I'll be the first to hit the dirt. And if I die on the old drop zone. box me up and ship me home. Pin my medals upon my chest. Tell my little lady I did my best.

One, two, three, can’t you see what the Corps has done for me? Before I went to Parris Island, I wasn’t too strong and I wasn’t too thin. They made me lean and they made me mean. At my graduation standing tall in my green. My DI; he was so proud, but when I got there, he was so loud. He told me that I did real well and tomorrow night I’m being shipped to Hell. When I was in the Ho Chi Minh, the gooks had my squad cornered in. I saw a hand grenade land by my feet so I thought to myself the Lord I will meet. I saved the lives of the men I lead. In just a second I was dead. I had given my life so others could live and for my land, that’s what I’ll give. At my funeral my best friend read: Though he is now gone and dead, he always lived by Semper Fi. In the Marine Corps it is do or die.
